Overlay Building Guidlines -- Mesquite Historic District
The Las Cruces City Council approved the Mesquite Historic District Overlay Plan in 2005. The Overlay Plan is essential in preserving the architectural neighborhood integrity. Las Esperanzas played a key role in the formulation of both the Overlay Plan and final Guidelines. The process to approve the plan endured more than two years with the assistance of City Staff, Las Esperanzas and Mesquite Historic District residents.
The City adopted the Overlay Plan as an ordinance and can be accessed through the link below. Segments of the Overlay Plan include a Design Review Board, a 60 day demolition requirement and approval by both City Staff and the Design Review board on all final construction documents.
Las Esperanzas Board members are also available to assist in reviewing the guidelines and providing assistance to anyone who wishes to become a part of the neighborhood. You may contact Board President Mr. David Chavez at 469/471.3861.
